Soodie Beasley is a certified appraiser in 20th-Century Decorative Arts and Design with the Appraisers Association of America and an accredited appraiser in Antiques and Decorative Arts with the American Society of Appraisers. She has held faculty positions at Park University where she developed and taught eight different face-to-face, online and study abroad courses since 2007 in art history, history of design, architecture and graphic design, as well as The Kansas City Art Institute where she developed and taught a course on Women Designers.
She has written and presented several lectures for the Appraisers Association of America, The International Society of Appraisers and The American Institute of Architects, as well as presented other lectures for a variety of different venues on women architects, designers and photographers. She has five published articles in the Journal of Advanced Appraisal Studies and has curatorial experience throughout the Midwest. She (too many she’s) has written catalogue descriptions for Dirk Soulis Auctions since 2009.
Ms Beasley earned a BA in Art History from William Smith College, Geneva, New York; an MA in Art History from the University of Missouri in Kansas City; a Certificate in Appraisal Studies in Fine and Decorative Arts from University of California, Irvine; and a four year Post-Baccalaureate Designation in Interior Architecture and Design from the University of California, Los Angeles. She has been working as a professional appraiser since 2002.
She is an Elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, and a board member of the Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art and a member of the Furniture History Society.
